Spalding road to be closed for a month as motorists face diversion route

A diversion route will be in place to accommodate for a month-long road closure in a Lincolnshire town. St Thomas’ Road in Spalding will be fully closed for just shy of five weeks while Lincolnshire County Council highway workers replace traffic signals.

The works will begin on Wednesday, February 14 and have a scheduled end date of Tuesday, March 12. Karen Cassar, the authority’s assistant director of highways, said: “The current signal equipment is at the end of its life, and we can replace this now with extra low voltage equipment which will help to reduce the carbon footprint.”

The work will be carried out at the T-junction between Winsover Road and St Thomas’. Ms Cassar added: “We will do everything possible to keep disruption to a minimum and a road closure will need to be in place for the works to be completed.”

While the works are ongoing, traffic will be diverted from Winsover Road onto Hawthorn Bank. Drivers would then follow the road to Little London Road, then to London Road (B1172).

They will then head onto Magellan Way and back to St Thomas’ Road and vice versa. The works are expected to conclude on March 12, though the county council warns that is subject to suitable weather.
