The Red Arrows performed their first UK display of the season at the Midlands Air Festival over the weekend. Officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows took to the skies above Warwickshire from May 31 to June 2.
The festival, based at Ragley Hall in Alcester, was attended by thousands of families and aviation enthusiasts. The Reds also made appearances at Duxford and the English Riviera Airshow over the weekend.
A full 2024 Red Arrows display schedule was released in March which listed all 37 displays planned this year, including the British Grand Prix and the King’s Birthday flypast. It is the team’s 60th anniversary season and sees the return of the iconic nine-ship formation not seen since 2021.

The Red Arrows consists of 11 pilots, nine of whom fly in the display, and more than 100 support personnel and technicians. Each of the pilots has previous fast-jet, operational experience flying the Tornado, Typhoon or Harrier. The team is based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.
On Sunday evening, the official Red Arrows team posted the following message on social media: “Fantastic first weekend of 60th season displays in the UK. Thank you to all of the crowds, organisers, volunteers and authorities at the busy events over the last few days.”
