Popular TikTok creator labels Grantham ‘dead’ as he tours the town centre

A popular TikTok creator took a trip to a Lincolnshire town and wasn’t very impressed with what he saw. The creator, under the name m.combe07, visited Grantham as part of his series trying to find the ‘most tired’ area in the UK.

He began the video stating that it was his first time in the county and he was hoping it didn’t disappoint. The content creator, who boasts more than 117,000 followers, approved of the short five minute walk from the train station to the town centre – but then came the harsh criticism.

Walking towards the town centre, he said “I can tell this area is not going to be good” while filming boarded up doors and windows. The TikToker then made his way to the Isaac Newton Shopping Centre where he criticised the lack of shops.

Looking around the High Street near St Peter’s Hill, he said: “This area is just enticing people to stay inside. If this is meant to be the High Street, then there is nothing high about this street.”

The content creator then showed what appeared to be a smashed up window of an old newsagents. He was, however, complimentary of the Spar and Subway on Bridge End Road which sold the popular Prime drink.

As he returned to the station, m.combe07 concluded: “Now that I’m leaving Grantham, my final thoughts on this area are that I feel it is just enticing the youth to start trapping [selling drugs] because what is there to do here? It’s dead.”

The video, posted on Sunday, August 27, now has approximately 125,000 views on the TikTok platform. One user commented: “Was not expecting to see my town on TikTok.” Another said: “Grantham has got progressively worse. So many closed shops. I always shop elsewhere.”

One user, who was critical of the TikToker, said: “You take a few steps outside the train station and spend five minutes in the town and that’s it, you need to venture further!”
