Northampton school asked ‘to hold children inside’ after serious fight nearby

Two men have been arrested and charged following reports of a serious fight in Semilong Road, Northampton on Friday (October 6). At 2.40pm, Northamptonshire Police received reports of men fighting with weapons.

Officers were despatched to the scene, with callers advising those involved had moved into Alliston Gardens and Alliston Court. As a precautionary safety measure, staff at Northampton International Academy in Barrack Road were asked to delay the release of pupils at the end of the school day while the incident was dealt with.

Pupils were able to leave the school premises from 3.40pm. Northamptonshire Police would like to thank those involved for their patience while the incident was being resolved.

Two men were arrested in connection with the incident and in an update on Monday (October 9), officers have said they have been charged. Daniel Preciosa, aged 33, of Alliston Gardens, Northampton, was subsequently charged with threatening a person with a blade/sharply pointed article in a public place.

Kamal Stephenson, aged 30, of no fixed address was charged with one offence of fear of provocation of violence by threatening words or behaviour under Section 4 of the Public Order Act.
