Man taken to hospital after being ‘assaulted with bladed weapon’ in Stamford

A Lincolnshire man has been charged with a number of offences after an alleged assault on a residential street. Police received reports that a man in his 60s was assaulted with what is believed to be a bladed weapon on Saturday, May 26.

The incident took place on Kesteven Road in Stamford at around 2.48pm and the victim was taken to hospital with injuries police say are not life-threatening. Geoffrey Thompson, of Lancaster Road in Stamford, was charged with section 18 wounding with intent, possession of a bladed article and possession of an offensive weapon.

The 57-year-old has been remanded into custody and will appear in court at a later date. Officers are now asking the public for help with the investigation.
