Mablethorpe named ‘celebrity hot spot’ as England star Harry Maguire spotted

A Lincolnshire seaside resort has been named a ‘celebrity hot spot’ after an England footballing star was spotted there on a summer visit. Harry Maguire, who plays for Manchester United as well as the men’s national side, has been visiting Mablethorpe, a popular ice cream parlour in the town revealed.

Mablethorpe Ice Cream Co, a traditional rock shop and ice cream parlour on High Street that has been trading since the 1960s, posted a picture on Facebook showing a member of staff with the England defender. “Here is our Sharnie, outside the shop tonight with Harry Maguire,” the post, made on Thursday (August 31), said.

The shop added: “So this week, Mablethorpe has been crowned no.1 beach in the UK, and now is a celebrity hot spot!!”

The shop’s followers reacted to the sighting in the comments section. Sarah Kilpatrick said: “What’s he doing in Mablethorpe!! All the celebs are flocking.”

Dale Goodyear asked: “Did he come for a slab of ice cream.”

Louisa Maddison said: “I wish I could’ve seen him.”

And Nathan Bray joked: “Transfer deadline day tomorrow. Mablethorpe FC.”

Last month Manchester United accepted a £30 million offer from West Ham for Maguire, their former captain. But the move stalled with Maguire, 30, wanting to stay and fight for his place.
