Live: Firefighters tackle Moggs Eye Beach sand dune blaze

Firefighters were called to a blaze at Moggs Eye Beach on Sunday afternoon (Sunday, September 3). People at the scene said the flames appeared to be coming from sand dunes at the coastal beauty spot.

Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue Service said crews were at the scene at just before 2.45pm. It said crews from Alford, Mablethorpe fire station and Skegness were tackling the fire. Photos shared on social media showed a large amount of smoke pouring from the sand dune area immediately behind the main beach.

The fire service said in an initial update: “We currently have crews from Alford, @MablethorpeFire & @SkegnessFire in attendance dealing with an incident at Moggs Eye Beach, Huttoft Bank – further details to follow.”
