It’s the spookiest time of the year once again. Halloween is here and with it comes a list of exciting traditions and family activities.
From Apple bobbing to telling ghost stories in fancy dress, Halloween brings much excitement. One of the most popular Halloween activities is trick-or-treating.
Although many believe that trick-or-treating, and other Halloween activities, are a more modern phenomenon adopted from America, it actually has its origins in Ireland and Scotland. In its earliest form, people would perform at a doorstep in exchange for food and treats.
The tradition has lived on through to the modern era, with trick-or-treating now the first thing many associate with Halloween. Thousands of youngsters will be heading doorstep-to-doorstep on October 31.
However, it has certainly seen a decline over recent years. Many parents now won’t let their children partake in the activity unsupervised over safety fears.
What we want to know is, do you welcome trick-or-treaters to your door? Or do you leave the light off in the hope that you will be left unbothered on October 31?
