Guilty verdict after pub landlord stabbed while on family holiday

A man has been convicted of the manslaughter of a pub landlord who was stabbed to death on a family holiday earlier this year. Gareth Hart, aged 43, was visiting Ingoldmells in April this year with his family, when he was killed.

Joseph Malek, 33, was convicted of manslaughter, but cleared of murder after a two-week trial at Lincoln Crown Court. He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on November, 3.

When the tragedy happened, Lincolnshire Police told how officers attended Sea Lane following a call at 12.57am, on April 6, reporting an altercation near Fantasy Grill & Balti. A man, aged 42, was found injured and sadly died shortly afterwards.

Previously releasing Mr Hart’s name and a picture of him on Friday (April 7), a Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “His family have asked for privacy at this difficult time. We continue to investigate.

“Anyone with information, or anyone with dash cam footage in the Roman Bank area between 9pm on April 5 and 3am the following day, should contact us on 101, quoting incident 22 of April 6.”
