The occupants of 70 homes in a Lincolnshire village have been advised to evacuate due to the potential for the bank of a river to breach due to flooding. Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service issued a statement at 1.06pm on Wednesday, October 25, asking residents in Fiskerton in West Lindsey to evacuate.
There are concerns about the nearby River Witham breaching its banks and flooding homes. Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service said river levels on the Witham are not expected to rise but the possibility of a breach means activities are being monitored.
An information centre has been set up at Fiskerton Village Hall for help or support in finding accommodation. The advice to evacuate comes as Storm Babet caused flooding across Lincolnshire on Friday, October 20 and led to many homes across the county being flooded.
We have a reporter heading to the scene and will bring you the latest updates when we get them. See below for the latest information.
