Families heap praise on rebranded Haven Skegness holiday park

Holidaymakers of new and old staying at the newly-rebranded Haven Skegness holiday park have shared their thoughts on what it’s like to stay there. The park opened under Haven for its first year in 2023 after it officially took over the previous family-owned Richmond Holiday Park.

Situated on Richmond Drive, the park is a short walk to Skegness town centre and pier and has new amenities including the Marina Bar and Stage, an outdoor piazza, and new food options. The park has received praise for being “updated” with “friendly staff,” whilst some who have been coming for years preferred it as it was before.

Natasha Champley, 33, and James Champley, 30, were staying at Haven Skegness for four nights with their two children. Mrs Champley said: “We think it’s really nice here. We normally go elsewhere but this is a lot better and it seems to be more friendly. We are going to keep coming here now.”

Mr Champley said: “This holiday park is located where there are lots of things to do outside as well.” Mum and daughter Caroline White, 59, and Maureen Gow, 81, from Peterborough, have been coming to the holiday park for more than 10 years, experiencing both Haven and Richmond.

Ms Gow said: “I preferred it when it was Richmond because I was used to it but the park has been updated. The staff are really nice and speak to you when you go by.”

Ms White said: “The caravan we are staying in is absolutely beautiful. There is more for children but before there wasn’t really anything.”

Philip Reynolds, 63, from Sheffield, was enjoying a beer at the park and has been going to the park since it was Richmond. He said: “I preferred it before because it is more expensive now.”

Simon Palethorpe, Managing Director at Haven, said: “People are in love with holidays in the UK and there is nowhere more iconic than Skegness. We are thrilled to be launching our first new park to open in over eight years, which reaffirms our commitment to UK domestic tourism.

“The opening of a Haven park in such a well-loved British seaside location increases our Lincolnshire offering to three parks, meaning more families can enjoy the best of the Lincolnshire coast than ever before.”
