Sunderland captain Luke O’Nien has signed a new three-year deal at the Stadium of Light.
The Championship club also hold the option of a further year on the versatile defender or midfielder, who has made 225 appearances since arriving from Wycombe in 2018.
“It feels incredible to have extended my contract at the club,” O’Nien, 28, told the official Sunderland website.
“I’ve got so many people to thank for the journey so far and I’ve loved my five years here.
“I didn’t want it to end and I can’t wait to continue my time here and create more incredible memories with some great people.”
