A Christmas fair at a 16th Century Lincolnshire country house will return this year with some new additions. The Burghley House Christmas Fair returns for 2023 with 150 exhibitors, an extra late night shopping date and evening entertainment from 1940s singers.
With the historic house as a backdrop, the fair will run from November 23 to November 26. The courtyards and grounds around the Elizabethan house, near Stamford, will take on a festive feel for the popular seasonal shopping event.
The event will once again feature traditional chalets and heated marquees, along with an avenue of pagodas bedecked in Christmas decorations and lights. New for 2023 will be the ‘Garden Courtyard’, which will host additional Christmas chalets, as well as extra browsing time on two days, with stalls staying open until 8pm on Thursday and Friday.
The annual event has gained a reputation for offering a wide selection of products, many from artisan makers, including a range of stocking fillers, luxury gifts, handmade decorations, winter clothing and homewares. Food and drink on offer this year will range from traditional mulled wine and indulgent hot chocolate, along with cocktails on tap, to warming raclette – a traditional Swiss cheese dish – and sweet and savoury crepes.
The fair will be open from 9.30am to 8pm on Thursday and Friday, and 9.30am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children (3-15 years), and must be booked in advance, with no ticket sales on the gate. Visitors will also be able to book an arrival timeslot to minimise queues and crowds.
