Brothers to launch new takeaway app in Lincoln for local eateries

Two determined brothers are on a mission to “enact change” in Lincoln by launching a new takeaway app for independent eateries. Lincoln Eats app, designed and directed by brothers Ashley and Gavin Parfitt, will list local independent takeaways in the city at cheaper prices than competitors.

Despite not coming from a food and retail background, Ashley said he has worked in several different roles. He said the idea for the app started in February 2023 when he became aware that takeaway foods were appearing as expensive to order as a sit-down restaurant.

He said: “We noticed there is nothing really for local restaurants and takeaways. Local eateries have to be on these apps but getting charged huge custom and can’t afford to leave the app.

“Lincoln Eats will be especially for our local eatery, takeaway and restaurant. When people go onto apps like Just Eat the big chains are at the top and the local places are right at the bottom.”

He added: “Our goal is to have every independent restaurant on the app. We have got some really great places to eat in the city and there are people who might not know they are there.

“We are here for the local takeaways and we are a local team passionate about what we are doing.” Ashley said the app will work the same as similar apps, by downloading it onto your phone, typing in your postcode, but with a focus on just independent takeaways in the city and at a cheaper price for delivery.

Ashley also said that over 20 eateries have already signed up to be on the app which is set to launch in early November. Gavin Parfitt, Ashley’s brother and another director of the app, said: “Our plan for Lincoln Eats is to enact change in the city by supporting local businesses and highlighting the delicious food on offer in the city by making sure local eateries get the exposure they deserve.

“For too long local restaurant and takeaway owners have had to wade through a quagmire of extortionate commission fees, unsympathetic and unsupportive corporate red tape and an increasingly competitive market which has become inundated with chain restaurants setting up shop in town – all of these challenges are set against the backdrop of a cost of living crisis.

“By offering local business owners much lower fees and working closely with them we will be able to offer the great people of Lincoln a much cheaper alternative to the national apps when they go to order their favourite cuisine.”

Lincoln eateries already signed up to the app and listed on Lincoln Eats Facebook page include Tasty Toast Cafe, The Greek Brothers, Lincoln Grill House and Monks Road Chippy.
