Appeal for witnesses after man found dead on A1 near Newark

Officers investigating the death of a man on the A1 have issued an appeal for witnesses. The man, in his late 20s, was found unresponsive on a northbound sliproad near Newark-on-Trent shortly before 9.30pm on Tuesday, October 24.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and an investigation to establish the full circumstances of the man’s death is ongoing, Nottinghamshire Live reports. DC Liah Lane, from Nottinghamshire Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“Our investigation into the circumstances is ongoing and I would appeal for anyone with information to come forward. Did you witness an incident or capture anything on dash cam footage? If you can assist our investigation, please get in touch.”

The A1 was closed in both directions until around 8am the next morning while investigations were carried out. The A46 flyover was also closed for a number of hours.
