A man has been arrested following reports of a rape. A 27-year-old man who lives near Lincoln was arrested on Sunday, October 1.
Officers from Lincolnshire Police received reports of an incident at a property in the city centre in the early hours of Saturday, September 30. A separate 27-year-old man, from Sleaford, was arrested on Sunday at around 8.15am, though he was later released with no further action.
Superintendent Phil Baker said following the first man’s arrest: “This has been a fast-paced investigation involving several different lines of enquiry, and we now have a suspect in custody. Our officers have been engaging with people in the area and will continue to do so.
“We take reports of rape and sexual assault extremely seriously, and I’d encourage those who’ve been victims of those crimes to come forward and make contact.” The second man remains in police custody and will be questioned.
A spokesperson for the force said: “If you’ve been the victim of rape or sexual assault, please report it to us as soon as possible. We can support you and suggest access to a range of services.”
